SHNU Vice President Jiang briefed on the progress that SHNU has made in domains of education, humanities, mathematics, chemistry and biology, and expected that a more solid foundation would be established for further exchanges between China and Cuba. The UH has become the first Sister University in Cuba for SHNU, which could strengthen ties and understandings between the two universities so as to promote joint development in academic communication and talent exchanges.

During the talk, both sides compared notes in terms of building a platform of cooperation, signing memorandum of cooperation, co-research in Marxist theories, and more collaboration in students enrolment and expansion of overseas campuses for pre-college programs of Shanghai international students.

Founded in 1721, the UH boasts one of the oldest and largest universities in scale in Cuba and also one of the Latin-American universities that enjoy the longest history. Now, the UH includes 20 colleges and 13 research institutes, and the number of undergraduates and graduate students amount to 17, 000 and 11, 000 respectively.
