On May 7th, the Shanghai Education Sport Events, the 9th Shanghai Pingpong Games for Teachers was held at Shanghai University of Sports and involved more than 500 participants from about 60 teams. Breaking the record at such Pingpong Games of its kind in SHNU history, the SHNU team won the runner-up for Group A.
A mixed-team event form is adopted and athletes were divided into groups according to different ages. It falls into two stages: 4 wins in 7 games for the first stage and OT(overtime) after knockout rounds for the second stage. The SHNU Pingpong team beat Donghua University team and Team pf Shanghai University of International Business and Economics(SUIBE). The SHNU team also out-rivaled Shanghai Lixin University of Commerce and East China Normal University.
The SHNU finally won the runner-up after losing the game against the Champion team-Shanghai Jiaotong University. On the game day, over 600,000 viewership was reached online. This Pingpong Games is one of the most eye-catching sports of Shanghai Teachers’ Games.
