This year, May 4th marks the 104th Anniversary of China’s May 4th Movement (a great anti-imperialist, anti-feudal revolutionary movement which marked the beginning of the 1919 new-democratic revolution in China). To commemorate the occasion, a celebration was held at SHNU, and attended by SHNU Party Secretary Lin Zaiyong, SHNU Vice Party Secretary and SHNU Vice President Ge Weihua, and various representatives from SHNU colleges.
May 4th also signals China’s Youth Day on which young students are sent gracious greetings and encouraged to firm their beliefs with hardworking spirits and lofty ambitions. The new Chinese youth league members also had their league-entering ceremony at which they were sworn into the league.
In the last two years, four SHNU teachers----Huang Xuehui, Yao Fei, Bi Ran and Hu Pengbin----won the personal medals of Shanghai May 4th Youth Award. Also, three SHNU university clubs won the honorary titles Shanghai May 4th Youth Medals, two young teachers won the Shanghai May 4th Personal Youth Medals. All these prize-winning SHNU students succeed in orienting themselves in life journeys and are expected to strive harder and better for their life pursuits as well as the future of China.
