After 10 years of painstaking efforts, SHNU Library has successfully published the List of Ancient Books Registration for Census by National Library Press. It signals an important phase of SHNU scholars’ and librarians’ joint research on Chinese ancient books protection plans.

Since the Chinese Ancient Books Protection Plan has been implemented by the State Council since 2007, National ancient books census registration has become a rudimentary part of it, which is also a government-sponsored project with the most number of collection institutes and organizations.

In 2009, SHNU first became Shanghai Key Protection Site of Ancient Books and also National Key Protection Site of Ancient Books. Ever since then, SHNU Library initiated census registration of these treasures. More than 10 SHNU scholars and librarians devoted all themselves to collecting 7, 657 volumes (before 1912) and 65,000 books with specific registration No., authors and storage information, etc.

The SHNU Library List of Ancient Books Registration for Census marks another landmark of steadily strengthening soft cultural power of SHNU.
