Recently, Tianjiabing Cup 8th National Teaching Skills Contest for Teacher’s College ended after two rounds of contests. Tao Zhuoting, a senior student from physics majors won the first prize, and three other senior students won the second prize, with another two students winning the third prize and Excellence Prize. A majority of winners of SHNU come from Shicheng Class (a class in which students are enrolled to adopt 4+2 mode: 4 years of undergraduate learning followed by two years of master’s degree program). The Shicheng Class features a high percentage of international internship and learning opportunities.
Tianjiabing Cup for National Teaching Skills Contest, with the most widely involved participants and the most comprehensive subjects, is regarded as the most influential contest related to teaching skills. The (teaching skills) contest orients towards different majors: Chinese language and literature, English language and culture, political science and education, history, mathematics and applied mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology and geography. In all, there are 988 candidates from 167 teachers’ colleges entering for the contest this year. The contest falls into various parts: impromptu speeches, model lecturing, and blackboard writing display. After several rounds of competition, there were 294 winners from 107 colleges being awarded with the first and second prizes, which suggests less than 10 percent and 20 percent of the total number of candidates, respectively, take the first prize and second prize home.
