On March 22nd, Wu Yongrui, researcher at Outstanding Innovation Center of Molecular Plant Sciences of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Wang Wenqin, professor from SHNU College of Life Sciences, were invited to deliver a report on how they have managed to do research at Library Center Hall on Xuhui campus of SHNU.
Wu and his wife Wang, together with their research team, published a paper titled Hereditary Basis of High-protein Maize Breeding in Nature, shared their experience on the road to science and research. Wu reviewed his experience of research at Lanzhou University in China’s west and his pursuit of academic freedom while he was working hard as a doctoral degree at Chinese Academy of Sciences.
He also brought forward five suggestions for the students: set an ambition, meet challenges, stick to your principles, make life plans and summarize in time, and keep a balance in different ways.
The couple also exchanged with the audiences in terms of tipping off between national needs and personal academic interests, and decisions on academic research direction.
