38th International Music Festival and SHNU Arts Week Kicks Off

30 Mar 2023

The 38th Shanghai Spring International Music Festival and SHNU Arts Week had a grand opening on March 29th. A series of SHNU musicians returning from overseas staged a dazzling and melodious music party with eight themes: urban love, campus meeting, southern China’s rhythms, classic songs, people’s songs, elegant praises, and lights of beliefs.

These SHNU musicians from College of Music performed for the audiences both western classic songs, and Chinese folk ones, such as the Song of Liangshanbo and Zhu Yingtai ( a Chinese loving couple who were split by external pressure).

Over five decades, the theme of Shanghai Spring aims at promoting Chinese folk music and dancing arts and becomes a signal of Shanghai arts and cultural brands. The arts week incorporates a music gala of dancing troupe, wind and pipe orchestra, chorus groups, Chinese zither and flute music, etc. These overseas returnees have showed their love for their teaching career with their music instruments and also with their high-spirited youth. The successful opening music party also displays outstanding achievements of SHNU College of Music in terms of education, research and arts practices.
