02 三月 2026

On February 27th, the Xinhua News Agency reported the latest progress made by the Systematic Entomology Research Group of theSHNUSchool of Life Sciences in the field of biodiversity research. The relevant findings were recently published in the international journal of zoological taxonomy, Zootaxa, under the title "A Record of Cerapeplus Löbl & Burckhardt, 1988 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Micropeplinae) in the Eastern Himalaya.". In this study, researcher Yin Zi led a team to discover a new rare species of the genus Cerapeplus in the Zari Gorge area of Longzi County, Tibet, and named it Cerapeplus luowaensis sp. nov. This discovery marks the first record of the genus Cerapeplus in the eastern segment of the Himalayas, increasing the global known species count of the genus to three. The discovery of this new species significantly extends the known geographic distribution range of this clade westward, further indicating the species' preference for high-altitude temperate mountain forest habitats.

Moving forward, the institute will continue to focus on serving national ecological strategies, advancing fundamental scientific exploration, and contributing to biodiversity conservation in China.
