On the afternoon of January 16th, the 2026 Spring Academic Symposium on Basic Education of Shanghai Normal University (SHNU) was held on the Xuhui Campus. The theme of the symposium was: "What kind of educators does this era need? How to cultivate future educators? What role can SHNU play?"
The event invited ten principals, including Tang Shengchang, former president of Shanghai High School, and Xu Hong, former president of Shanghai Experimental School. Chen Heng, SHNU President, and Li Ye, SHNU Vice President participated in the event, along with all members of the university office, alumni association, Basic Education Department, and the Institute for the Development of Basic Education. Chen Heng first extended a warm welcome to the guests on behalf of SHNU and expressed sincere gratitude for their long-term care and support. In his concluding remarks, Li Ye stated that Shanghai must initiate educational innovation, and future educators should possess practical wisdom, adaptability, and interdisciplinary competencies.
