On January 12th, SHNU (Shanghai Normal University) held its first academic salon for natural science fund applications, specifically targeting liberal arts faculty from disciplines such as economics, management, psychology, humanities, and arts. Vice President Li Ye attended the salon and participated in the discussions. Over 60 teachers from humanities, education, preschool education, psychology, philosophy and law, tourism, and business schools actively participated in the event.
Li Ye pointed out that against the backdrop of accelerating interdisciplinary integration and research paradigm shifts, the National Natural Science Foundation has become a crucial pathway for humanities faculty to broaden research perspectives, innovate methodologies, and cultivate high-level achievements. In recent years, disciplines such as education, psychology, and tourism of SHNU have achieved breakthroughs, demonstrating the profound potential and comprehensive strength of humanities research. Additionally, specialized education on research integrity was conducted for the attending faculty. He highlighted exemplary cases. The first salon invited Professor Cai Dan, Dean of the School of Psychology, and Associate Professor Jia Sixue from the School of Business as keynote speakers.
The participating teachers engaged in an open and in-depth dialogue with the two experts, discussing the feasibility of interdisciplinary topics, the pathways to refine scientific questions, the exploration and presentation of innovative points, as well as the practical challenges of paradigm shifts in discipline during the proposal writing process.
