On December 24th, the list of 2025 "Shanghai Craftsman" winnerswas officially announced, with Professor An Kang from the School of Information and Mechanic Engineeringsuccessfully selected, marking a historic breakthrough for SHNUinterms ofthis prestigious honor.
The "Shanghai Craftsman" initiative is a key project organized by relevant authorities in Shanghai, aimed at promoting the spirit of model workers, labor, and craftsmanship, with a focus on high-end manufacturing, technological innovation, and other priority areas. This year, 1,112 individuals across the city applied for the title, and after more than six months of rigorous multi-tiered evaluations, 112 Shanghai Craftsmen were ultimately selected.
Over the years, Professor An Kang has led or participated in more than 20 national, municipal (Shanghai), and corporate-sponsored research projects. He has published over 30 high-quality papers and filed or secured more than 50 invention patents. He was awarded the first prize of the 2020 Shanghai Technology Invention Award and the second prize of the 2023 Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, while also ranking among the top 20 in the 2023 Shanghai High-Value Patent Operation Competition.
Professor An Kang actively promotes the construction of the Embodied Intelligence in Education Laboratory, providing strong support for students' practical exploration of cutting-edge embodied intelligence technologies. He also organizes a series of activities such as "AI Education in Schools" to advance the popularization and innovation of AI education.
