SHNU’s Confucius Institute of University of Missouri Donates Chinese Books to Ellis Library

02 May 2013

Recently, SHNU’s Confucius Institute (CI) of University of Missouri (MU) donated a batch of Chinese books to Ellis Library. The books over 500 in number include those of Chinese culture and Chinese teaching, picture albums of Chinese customs and traditions, and some electronic teaching tools.

Since its founding in April, 2011, CI of MU has drawn a great attention from the local educational and business circles as well as government departments at all levels. Thus, the donation of books was a great event for the people and news media there. Leaders of MU highly praised the significance of the donation and the contribution made by CI in the last two years.

MU started its friendship and cooperation with China from 1920s. The donation of books with ¥60,000 represented the continuation of the friendship and cooperation. With more and more people in Missouri interested in Chinese culture, those books will not only increase resources for studying Chinese and Chinese culture but also enlarge the book collection in Ellis Library.(Translated by Feng Yunyun)
