In the Russia Liepunikefu Cup International Accordion competition, Shi Xuan, a first-year graduate student from SHNU’s Music College, won the first prize in the popular accordion group after the fierce competition among many Russian and other international accordion players. This competition, held by the Glazunov School of Music, was organized by the Russian Ministry of Culture as well as the Ministry of Culture of the Karelian Republic of Leah. Shi Xuan showed her unique playing feature and charm during the competition. In the two rounds, her wonderful skills and nearly perfect performance won the hearts of the judges and audience, and she undoubtedly obtained the highest score of the group. The organizing committee invited her to participate in the closing ceremony held at the Glazunov Concert Hall. At the end of the show, Shi Xuan was surrounded by many Russian student fans; they gave her flowers and obtained the copies of the music sheets from her.  The major of accordion in SHNU’s Music College has already become the international accordion academic activity center. In recent years, the construction of accordion courses has made fruitful achievements: for example, it became the Shanghai Key courses in 2008; and in 2010, it became one of the best municipal level quality courses in Shanghai.
