SHNU: “Haibao”- the mascot of the 2010 World Expo – has attracted great attention since it was unveiled on Dec. 18. However, few people know that the mascot came into being in the Creative Industry Area of Design Factory of our university. “Haibao” was designed by Wu Yongjian, General Manager of the Shanghai Enterprise Image Planning Co; Ltd. and revised by Shao Longtu, 62, CEO of the Jiumuchuansheng Advertising Company and head of the mascot design team. Haibao, literally meaning "treasure of the world", was selected from among 26,655 entries from 21 countries and regions. The organizers defined Haibao as a confident, lovely, happy, witty and lively creature. It is a blue smiling cartoon figure that has curly hair and is in the shape of Chinese character REN, or human beings. Its hair is like the wave of the sea; its motion shows his generosity and hospitality; and his smile welcomes visitors all over the world. |
