On December 14, a meeting on implementation of special professors for universities in Shanghai, namely, oriental scholars, was held in Shanghai Normal University. The meeting was organized by Shanghai Municipal Party Commission of Science and Technology, and Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education.
Over 100 personnel administrators from more than 50 universities in Shanghai attended the meeting, on which a decision has been made about the initiation of Shanghai Oriental Scholars Project. Also, specific procedures of online operation have been detailed to those present at the meeting. An annual post subsidy of RMB100,000 (about USD$1200) shall be provided to these scholars by the Shanghai education commission to draw more attention from the gifted talents overseas. |
