On December 12, SHNU’s College of Mechanical Engineering initiated a Sino-foreign program of modern distance education center, which, among other things, endeavors to tackle problems of foreign teachers, textbook choices and copyrights etc. The ceremony was attended by heads of SHNU and different departments. According to this program, the teachers of Dayton University of USA shall teach by means of videos, and students are able to propose a question to the teachers for further rounds of discussion. There is such a program which takes on the teaching modes of 3 plus 1, that is, three years of study here in China heeled by the final year of overseas learning, and success in all the academic and exam records shall ensure a diploma to be issued by the two cooperative universities. Usually, the suffocating amount of tuition fees shut the door before loads of students in China, and this distance education program makes it feasible for students to have access to quality education resources which previously were only available overseas. In future, SHNU shall further expand cooperation with foreign countries such as US, Germany, Britain, and France. With just one piece of terminal equipment, students could feel at home in taking distant education lessons. Meanwhile, it is possible to make academic exchanges and conduct administrative activities based on this center. |
