On December 9, the First Postgraduates Forum on Cross-cultural Communications for Universities in Shanghai was held in Shanghai Normal University. The forum was hosted by the branch association of China’s Cross-cultural Communications Association, and undertaken by the College of Foreign Languages of SHNU. Almost 150 postgraduates and teachers from more than ten universities across Shanghai attended this forum, including all staff council members from the China’s Cross-cultural Communications Association. Lu Jianfei, head of Shanghai branch of China’s Cross-cultural Communications Association and SHNU vice president, delivered a welcome speech. Jia Yuxin, head of China’s Cross-cultural Communications Association, mailed his congratulations for the successful opening of the forum. Research papers were made public by reading on site, ensued by a surge of bubbling exchanges of views, with the kernel of Study of Cross-cultural Communications in Globalization Age. The papers concern discourse analysis, foreign language teaching in cross-cultural backgrounds, and mass communication, etc, with research approaches ranging from culturology and mass communication to the materialization and quantification of linguistics. |
