Scholars Home and Abroad Flock to SHNU for Seminar On Females and Shanghai Urban Development

    On October 27th, a seminar on Females and Shanghai Urban Development was held and attended by over 30 scholars from SHNU, Fudan University, Tongji University, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Shanghai Fisheries University, Shanghai Academy of Social Science, Surugadai University and Otsuma Women’s University in Japan.
    The meeting is co-sponsored by Shanghai Women’s Studies Federation, SHNU Women Studies Center, Women College of SHNU and Urban Culture of SHNU, which is claimed as a key discipline of Shanghai Municipality. The discussion focused on three themes: Females and Urban Culture, Females and Urban Development and Historical Study on Urban Females. As there is more attention being paid to women affairs and the awakening of women consciousness, women studies have been now prosperous, boasting of academics as well as social and realistic significance. With advanced gender theories, future-mindedness of research prospective and profound realistic caring about women affairs, the seminar has drawn quite a lot of attention from the academic fields and the media.
