SHNU, Oct. 24: A solo concert by Prof. Fan Yuwen, who is a soprano singer, vocality educator, compere and public figure in Taiwan, was held on the multi-functional hall in Wenyuan Building. As one of the activities of 2007 International Art Festival of our university, the solo concert was co-hosted by our university and Shanghai Overseas Returned Scholars Association (SORSA).
The concert was attended by leaders of Shanghai Women’s Federation, the teachers and students of our university, residents in the neighborhood, and people from all walks of life. Prof. Fan’s marvelous singing skills and humorous stage manners won big applause from the audience. She sang altogether 15 classic songs that were well-known both at home and abroad. The last two songs High Mountain and The Moon Represents My Heart aroused a warm and cordial response from the audience. The songs and her patriotic emotions melt into one, pushing the atmosphere to a climax.
After the performance, Vice President Xiang Jiaxiang expressed his gratitude to Fan on behalf of our university, saying the concert served as a bridge of communication which had shortened the psychological distance between people of Taiwan and the mainland.
