44 Students Win Art Scholarship

SHNU: Recently, 34 undergraduate students and 10 graduate students of our university were awarded first to third grades of art
scholarship on the ceremony of launching and awarding the Art Scholarship of Shanghai Institute of Chinese Painting. Among these
students, 4 won the first-grade scholarship, 6 won the second-grade scholarship and 34 won the third-grade scholarship. Students
from Shanghai University and East China Normal University were also among the scholarship winners.
    Leaders of Shanghai municipal government and different universities and colleges, including Xie Lijuan, Jiang Weiyi, Zhu Changxin,
Lin Zaiyong, etc., were present at the awarding ceremony. Those leading personnel expressed their congratulations on the
scholarship winners, and hoped that students majoring in oil painting and traditional Chinese painting would be more creative and
study even harder.
    The Art Scholarship of Shanghai Institute of Chinese Painting is established by Shanghai Educational Development Foundation.
Famous painters from the Institute of Chinese Painting award excellent students and those from poor families with the money gained
from selling their paintings. In this way they encourage students to create more excellent works of arts so as to carry forward and
spread China’s arts of oil paintings as well as traditional Chinese paintings.
