11 Oct 2007

SHNU: The long-incubated “Shenjiang Scholar Program” of our university has now been officially launched. This program aims at enhancing the academic position and competitive strength of our university by recruiting outstanding young and middle-aged scholars worldwide.
In the press conference held on Oct. 10, Vice President Lu Jianfei stressed the background and goal of the implementation of “Shenjiang Scholar Program”. He hoped this program would attract young and middle-aged distinguished talents and help cultivate nationally or world renowned disciplines so as to enhance the academic position and competitive strength of our university. He said that in this way, our university could contribute more to the development of Shanghai and even to the economic and social development of Yangtze River Delta.
The administrator from Human Resources Department talked about the implementation of the program in the press conference. According to the Implementing Measures for the Shenjiang Scholar Program of Shanghai Normal University, there are posts of “specially engaged professor” in the key disciplines of our university. These professors should be those who are highly accomplished academically, who have made outstanding achievements acknowledged both at home and abroad in the field of scientific research, and who are innovative-minded and take the lead in developing their own disciplines. Our university will provide favorable working and living conditions such as appointing research assistants and granting research funds for these specially engaged Shenjiang professors.
