Meeting on Discipline Planning Raises New Tasks

SHNU: A meeting on discipline planning was held on Sept. 26 in our university. Vice President Li Hexing put forward the requirements for the short-term task in this respect. Administrators of relevant departments and deans of colleges attended the meeting. Based on the favorable situation, he said, all the colleges should make a two-year or three-year plan for their overall disciplinary development. He stressed that the colleges should be clear about their strength and features so as to bring their advantages into full play, and that they should be aware of their own objectives, identify difficulties as well as steps to overcome these difficulties.

    The meeting emphasized the intensification of the discipline building and the strengthening and enlargement of the existing masters’ and doctor’s programs. Breakthroughs should be made in state-level disciplines, key national research bases, municipal-level key disciplines and those run by Education commission of Shanghai Municipality. Attention shall also be paid to the cultivation of the innovative spirit of graduate students and the improvement of graduate courses. Meanwhile, talent training and talent recruiting should be both properly executed.
