SHNU, Mar 12: A preparatory meeting was held for the 2007 SHNU International Art Festival and “Xue Si Lake” Academic Forum of Well-known Overseas Scholars. Vice President Lu Jianfei and relevant staff from the two organizing committees were present.
The International Art Festival of SHNU was launched in 2005. With “integrating multi-cultures and exhibiting distinctive arts” as its theme and “promoting friendship, communication, harmony and development” as its principle, the festival has served to broaden the horizons of both students and teachers and promote intercultural exchanges. At the meeting there was a heated discussion on such issues as attendants at the opening ceremony and performance, the organization of audience, stage setting, publicity, souvenirs, hosts, program announcer, etc.
The Forum of Well-known Overseas Scholars is held to give this university more academic atmosphere and promote exchanges in academic fields between overseas well-known scholars and the scholars of this university. Prof. Lu hoped that the forum would intensively launch an academic movement and draw young teachers and graduates into the movement. Three lectures have been held since the opening of the Forum, which attracted much attention from teachers and students. It is estimated that about 40 overseas well-known scholars will be invited to deliver lectures.
