On September 23rd, Sun Yayan, winner of the 7th 10 National Outstanding Youth Volunteers Award, make a report on her heroic deeds in the east hall on Xu Hui Campus. Those present at the report were Jiang Weiyi, Vice Party Secretary and SHNU Vice President, all of the SHNU Youth League members, Vice Party Secretaries from all SHNU Colleges, and teachers and students from other departments and colleges. Having been a university students’ tutor for approximately 4 years, Sun treated students sincerely and wrote I Love My Students, a diary form of a book with over 150,000 Chinese characters. She made regular visits to students’ home, and feel it extremely valuable to grow more mature together with the students. In order to recall her experience of temporary teaching in Guangxi Province last summer vacation, Sun visited more than 300 students, jotted down 150,000 words of memorandum, and established quite a few recreation rooms and associations, such as sunlight chat-room, chorus group, and broadcasting room etc, which are highly popular with local students. Now she still keeps 2000 odd letters from her funded students. She even received gifts made of wheat straw or old shelled corns from her students far away in Guangxi on this Teacher’s Day.
