It is noted that the year 2008 has witnessed 16 SHNU programs funded by NSFC (National Science Fund Commission), with the sum running up to 7.51 million RMB (around $1million). This marks the highest point both in the number of items and the total sum.
These include 1 National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and 10 sub-items, 4 Youth Science Fund, and 1 Collaborative Fund, covering mathematics, science, chemistry, life science, earth, material project and information science. Zhang Yuxin from SHNU College of Architecture Engineering became the first to win funds from NSFC, and Tang Yanxue, a young teacher from SHNU College of Mathematics and Science who is on the right side of 30, demonstrates the new features of more and more young and promising scholars springing out and shouldering nationwide scientific programs. |
