On September 19th, Qiu Liping, head of Shanghai Youth League, came to SHNU for investigating the feasibility of recruiting volunteers for 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Qiu was received by Jiang Weiyi, Vice Party Secretary and Vice President of SHNU, and some leaders from SHNU Department of Students’ Affairs, Postgraduates, Teaching Affairs, and University Youth League, etc.
Qiu spoke highly of what SHNU student volunteers have done in Beijing and Shanghai, on the occasion of the Olympics, and of the bolstering from SHNU. Ensued by briefing on the requirements of Shanghai World Expo, the attendants put forward suggestions in terms of popularizing knowhow of Expo, promoting the training system of volunteers, possibility of participation involving both teachers and students as volunteers. Jiang was quoted as saying that volunteers service functions as an effective means to help students grow, and 2010 Shanghai World Expo will provide the students with a golden opportunity to temper themselves to be more capable and knowledgeable.
