SHNU: On August 2, the Inaugural Meeting of WFCMS (World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies) Specialty Committee of Translation and the First International Conference on Chinese Medicine and Chinese Culture Translation was held in SHNU. Over 200 experts in traditional Chinese medicine translation across China attended the meeting.
The Foreign Languages College of SHNU was in charge of the organization of the meeting. In the meeting, the written reply to the establishment of WFCMS and the election result of its members was announced. SHNU leaders including Li Jin, Lu Jianfei and Li Hexing expressed hearty welcome to the experts present and highlighted the great significance of the meeting, saying the establishment of WFCMS would contribute to the intercultural communication between China and the west by promoting the traditional Chinese medicine and its translation. In addition, they said the university would did its best to support the development of WFCMS. Officials from various influential institutions such as the National Foreign Language Teaching Advisory Board under the Ministry of Education, Shanghai Science and Technology Press, etc., spoke at the meeting. In the following sessions, experts made speeches on specific topics, and scholars and representatives of the meeting held a heated discussion on relevant topics. The secretariat of WFCMS Specialty Committee of Translation is headquartered in SHNU. Newspapers such as Shanghai Evening Post Science Times and Shanghai Daily reported the conference as well as the establishement of WFCMS with a large margin and spoke highly of its significance.
