On June 25th, a contract for 2008-2009 Annual Oral English Courses Program was signed with EF (English First), a brand name of English language training center. SHNU Vice Presidents Xiang Jiaxiang and Lu Jianfei, Director of EF Shanghai Branch Adele Bai, and heads of SHNU College of Foreign Languages and Department of International Affairs attended the ceremony, which marks the fourth year of the partnership of teaching cooperation between SHNU and EF.
The courses are supposed to orient towards juniors and postgraduates for promoting spoken English skills so that graduates can adapt themselves to job market of the metropolitan Shanghai. This has caught the eye of many for it has been taken as an avant-garde decision throughout universities in Shanghai. English corners have been kicked open on both campuses of SHNU, and co-opt shows of students and foreign teachers have been staged in 2007 SHNU International Arts Festival. (Trans. by Rebecca) |
