38 Pieces of Works of Art on Charity Sale

04 Jun 2008

SHNU: On June 3, 27 backbone teachers of the College of Fine Arts (CFA) of SHNU donated 38 pieces of works of art for charity sale. These works were created or treasured by themselves. They wanted to contribute their lot to the quake-stricken area with their professional skills.

The opening ceremony of the art exhibition was attended by an official from the Shanghai Branch of Red Cross of China, SHNU authorities and teachers and students of CFA.

As early as May 12 when the Wenchuan Earthquake occurred, teachers of the CFA had formed the ideas of helping people in the quake-hit area with their specialties. While donating money, they took out some pieces of works of art that had been treasured by themselves for years, some even stayed up all night to create their own art works.

Though it was not a theme art exhibition in the traditional sense, it won compliments from all the audience present. They said the exhibition was a moving and inspiring one, from which they learned that doing one’s job well was also a kind of contribution to the quake-stricken area.

The news of the charity sale has been reported by Xinmin Daily on June 4 and reprinted on the official website of Shanghai Municiple Government as its frontpage story on June 4.
