The Wenchuan County earthquake of Sichuan Province was heeled by swift actions of SHNU teachers and students by way of a collection of voluntary relief fund amounting to RMB 600,000Yuan. SHNU Party Secretary Zhou Honggang and SHNU President Li Jin took the initiative in contributing to the fund, followed by respondent promptness of generous subscriptions from other teachers and students, ranging from hundreds to thousands of dimes. The relief funds shall be turned over to Shanghai Red Cross on the afternoon of that very day. A poem recital Unity of Will is an Impregnable Stronghold was done by SHNU Xie Jin College of Film and Arts. Even the students who are interns outside campus make donations, including the exchange students or those who study abroad telephoned their parents to make subscriptions. Those retirees of SHNU also fought shy of being left behind. A campus cleaner, who is far away from earning a decent salary, donated RMB 50Yuan to offer her most beloved care for those disaster-stricken people. It is noted that 4:30 pm of May 15th shall witness SHNU Relief Gala for Juyuan Middle School in Dujiangyan city of Sichuan Province at the auditorium on east Xuhui campus.
