SHNU: The 3rd National Seminar on Researches into Functional Words in Modern Chinese and TCFL was hosted by the International College of Chinese Studies (ICCS) of our university from April 30 to May 2. SHNU vice president Li Hexing attended the opening ceremony of the seminar and 112 representatives of various research institutes and institutions of higher learning in Japan, Canada, Hong Kong as well as the mainland of China were present.

The seminar received 127 academic papers in all. 10 famous professors (including Zhang Bin and Fan Kaitai, 2 professors of our university) made keynote speeches at the seminar. Representatives were divided into 8 groups to probe into the modern Chinese functional words from both the ontological and pedagogical perspectives.

Our university has been doing research work in the academic field of modern Chinese functional words and has published a lot of works in this respect. In recent years, ICCS has made great achievements on the researches into modern Chinese grammar, especially functional words. ICCS successfully hosted the 1st and 2nd seminar in 2003 and 2006.
