Meeting of University Presidents of Shanghai and also Opening Ceremony of University Discipline Construction and Structure Optimization was initiated on April 30th in SHNU, which was attended by Xue Mingyang, Director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education, Wang Qi, the vice director, and various university presidents of Shanghai.
Xue stressed the importance of university discipline construction and structure optimization for promoting the university education standard and perfecting the cultivation system of quality and creative talents. Universities in Shanghai shall take initiatives for an original and open development mode characteristic of their own strengths, so as to be ranked among the world prestigious universities or specialized colleges. It is noted that some universities crave for an all-inclusive development path by a repetitive arrangement of disciplinary construction, resulting in the lack of talents urgently demanded for social use on the one hand, and severe unemployment rate for graduates on the other.
