SHNU: On April 26 and 27, the first lecture on Chinese culture entitled Chinese Calligraphy was held in Fukuyama of Japan. The lecture was made by Zhang Xin, a teacher from the College of Fine Arts of our university, who is the first lecturer sent there by our university.

Situated in Hiroshima, Fukuyama has a fine tradition of calligraphy and people there like it very much. As an introductory course to Chinese culture, the lecture on Chinese calligraphy met the needs of local citizens and could enrich the local culture there. The number of people who registered to attend the lecture increased to 150, far more than the expected 40, just within 2 days.

The popularity of Chinese culture attracted great attention from all walks of life in Japan, and many journalists came to the lecture for an interview and “Shanghai Normal University” was heard being talked about from time to time.
