SHNU: As one of the activities to welcome the Beijing Olympics, an Olympic torch relay ceremony hosted by the Communist Youth League of our university was held on April 23. SHNU leaders including Jiang Weiyi, Huang Gang and people concerned from relevant departments attended the ceremony. Also present were representatives of teachers and students from different colleges. SHNU vice Party secretary Huang Gang expressed his hope that our students would study hard to become useful talents for the society. Jiang Weiyi, vice Party secretary and vice president lit the torch in the southern playground of Fengxian Campus, and Chairman of the Student Union took over the torch and became the first torch bearer. The torch was passed from one person to another until it was carried to every corner of the campus. Then it would be carried to Xuhui Campus for the second round of relay. The Olympic torch relay was designed to strengthen students’ sense of collective honor and encourage them to learn more about the Olympics. (Trans. by Jessica) |
