SHNU: In line with the notice issued by Shanghai Education Commission, there will be an examination of the undergraduate disciplines that were newly established from 2004 to 2005. Altogether 14 disciplines of our university are to be checked. On April 22, the meeting on teaching affairs was held to deploy relevant work. The checkup mainly consists of 5 aspects: the guiding ideology of the discipline, teaching staff, basic teaching conditions, teaching management, and effectiveness of teaching. Both self-examination by our university and on-the-spot check-up by Shanghai Education Commission will be carried out. There will be two kinds of check-up results: “pass” and “to rectify within limited time”. If the disciplines are still not up to standards after rectification, they are not allowed to recruit students the next year. In addition, the meeting announced relevant work on admission of new students and graduation thesis, and required all the SHNU teachers to contribute their lot to building an energy-effective campus by educating their students with knowledge and energy-saving awareness.
