Shanghai Primary School Education Development Forum Held in SHNU

21 Apr 2008

On April 17th, the 2008 Shanghai Primary School Education Development Forum was held in SHNU, which was co-hosted by Shanghai Education Journals Publishing House and our university. The theme of the forum is Foundation, Democracy, Impartiality and Efficiency. The forum was attended by Yin Houqing, vice director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Education, Li Hexing, SHNU vice president, Zhang Minsheng, head of Shanghai Education Society, and other experts in the educational field.
It was agreed at the forum that with the past 30 years of Shanghai’s elementary education slashing its way for unremitting reforms, renovations, inheritance and development, upgrading of educational modes and concepts bulks large as the essential part of this development progression. In this sense, small class orientation and bilingual education have been proactively explored which even weigh significantly across China. As the characteristics of quality education, pleasure, creation and individual-oriented education have been testified as fruitful.
The forum lasted a whole day, and students’ parents, school headmasters, sociologists, educationists, government officials and media watchdogs were also invited to attend the discussion themed as “My Ideal Primary school education”.
