On April 14th, Mr. Taniguchi, head of Faculty of Engineering of Kumamoto University of Japan visited SHNU, and was received by vice president Lu Jianfei. Both parties compared notes on teachers’ mutual visits and students exchanges. The meeting was also attended by chiefs from the College of Life and Environmental Science, the College of Humanities, and the Department of International Affairs.
On the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Taniguchi held the floor at the 2008 SHNU Xuesihu Lake Overseas Scholar’s Forum and delivered a speech on biological molecules and the application in Microbial Biofuel Cell. As an internationally prestigious expert of biological and electrochemical fields, Mr. Taniguchi started close academic exchanges with SHNU electrochemical lab more than 20 years ago. Kumamoto University is a national university in Japan, boasting of a 120-year history, 7 colleges, 14 research centers, 13,600 teachers and students. The April 2nd of this year witnessed the interscholastic exchange agreements signed between SHNU and Kumamoto, who is the first from Kumamoto to visit SHNU ever since the beginning of this bilateral cooperation program.
