Jiefang Daily: SHNU Promotes Teacher Professionalization

            The April 16th issue of Jiefang Daily reports on SHNU College of Continuing Education, with the theme of SHNU Promotes Teacher to be Professionalization. It is summarized as follows:
            From 2005 till now, there are nearly 3,000 teachers completing their study tour of acquiring a bachelor’s degree from a college one, which testifies that SHNU has played an active role in promoting the professionalization of teachers. 
            According to a development plan of Shanghai municipal government, by 2010, the percentage of bachelor’s-degree holders or above for kindergarden teachers shall be over 30%, while 40% for primary school teachers, 95% for junior middle school teachers, and a minimum 6% of master’s-degree holders for senior high school teachers. In this case, SHNU has initiated 9 teacher education majors, such as pre-school education, and psychology etc, which has made itself a pivotal base for training middle and primary school teachers. Moreover, a series of theme training have been held for over a thousand school masters and directors to further their study in SHNU.
