The April 16th issue of Jiefang Daily reports on SHNU College of Continuing Education, with the theme of SHNU Promotes Teacher to be Professionalization. It is summarized as follows:
From 2005 till now, there are nearly 3,000 teachers completing their study tour of acquiring a bachelor’s degree from a college one, which testifies that SHNU has played an active role in promoting the professionalization of teachers. According to a development plan of Shanghai municipal government, by 2010, the percentage of bachelor’s-degree holders or above for kindergarden teachers shall be over 30%, while 40% for primary school teachers, 95% for junior middle school teachers, and a minimum 6% of master’s-degree holders for senior high school teachers. In this case, SHNU has initiated 9 teacher education majors, such as pre-school education, and psychology etc, which has made itself a pivotal base for training middle and primary school teachers.
