SHNU: News came that the project “Seminar of World Expo and Urban Culture” initiated by SHNU Prof. Yang Jianlong won the 2nd term sponsorship of Shanghai Cultural Development Foundation (SCDF). Yang’s project, in the form of academic seminar, probes into the World Expo and urban culture. It discusses such issues as the history of World Expo and construction and development of cities, the plan of the Expo and urban cultural construction, the Expo and citizen’s cultural qualities, and the relationship between Shanghai World Expo and cultural construction of Shanghai. The research fruits of the seminar are believed to be of great value for the preparation and organization of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. SCDF is the first cultural development foundation at the municipal level. With its tenor of raising funds for cultural development and sponsoring cultural programs for public benefit, SCDF has sponsored a lot of local programs related to cultural development.
