Student Volunteers of SHNU Extend Helping Hands to the Transportation Work

24 Feb 2008

SHNU: The nationwide rainy and snowy weather caused much trouble to the transportation of Shanghai, delaying the time of arrival and departure of trains. As a result, a great number of passengers were held up in Shanghai Railway Station. Our university promptly answered the call of Shanghai Commission of the Youth League and many SHNU volunteers were organized to offer help.

From January 30 to February 5, over 30 student volunteers from the College of Physical Education did their best to serve the passengers by maintaining the order, guiding the passengers into the station and explaining the reason for the delaying and canceling of some trains. Everyday, these volunteers were on duty from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Despite the chilly weather, they gave up the winter vocation to help those who were in need of help.

During the 7days, the work of the SHNU student volunteers was recognized for their efforts. In the Commendation Ceremony held by Shanghai Railway Administration, 10 of the student volunteers of our university were given the honorary title of “Excellent Volunteers”.
