SHNU: The “Clover” students’ Youth League Community is founded to serve the retired SHNU staff members who have neither couple nor children. On Dec 14th, the students shared their reflections from the experiences of caring those retirees without dependants.
Those cared by SHNU students are of different
academic backgrounds and life experiences, and some of them are in good health, whereas others suffer from ailments. During the discussion, some students felt it is a little difficult to communicate with them at first, yet as volunteers tried to be sincere to express their loving care, the lonely retired began to show warm welcome. Another student said that they recognized the significance of respecting for their eldersafter talking with the knowledgeable and modest old.

Starting from October, 2010, the voluntary service of pairing with the senior lonely retirees, that is one SHNU student takes care of one retiree, aims at carrying on the volunteers’ morale reigning in their service for the 2010 Shanghai World Expo . So far, Jiefang Daily, Wenhui news, Xinmin Evening News, Youth Daily, Shanghai Education TV Station and other authoritative media had reported the “Clover” Community.
