Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana Marks Its One-year Anniversary

From Nov. 22nd to 26th, Confucius Institute at the University of Botswana held a Confucius Week with a series activities to celebrate its one-year anniversary. The celebrating activities included academic lectures, Chinese Book Fair, Chinese Language teaching, etc.

Two lectures on Sino-Botswanian relationship were delivered in Nov. 25 by Gou Haodong, Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Botswan and Dr. Briteny in the University of Botswana. Rich in data and facts, Gou’s lecture expounded the Sino-Africa and Sino-Botswanian relations and aroused strong interests of the audience.

The Book Fair of CI was exhibited for one week at the university library, with nearly 200 books and 80 pictures on display. During the Book Fair, Confucius Institute gave an introduction of the Chinese courses and cultural events. The organizer also prepared some traditional Chinese foods like fried dumplings and moon cakes, which attracted more than 100 visitors who lined up for a taste.

This is the second time the Confucius Institute Week has been held since last September.
