SHNU Student Wins Prize in National English Speaking Contest for College Students

25 Nov 2010

Recently, Qiu Cailaien, student of SHNU College of Music, won the third prize in the 2010 FLTRP Cup (the former CCTV Cup)——National English Speaking Contest for College Students at Shanghai. This is the first time an art student of SHNU participated and carried back an award.

Hosted by Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, the FLTRP Cup ———National English Speaking Contest for College Students aims at creating a platform, on which university students will be stimulated to learn foreign languages and demonstrate their integrated practical skills of English, especially in listening and speaking, and, hopefully, to enhance English language teaching and learning in institutions of higher education.

During recent years, SHNU Foreign Languages College has done a good job in organizing such kind of activities, with its dispatched contestants returning in triumph with a second or third prize annually. However, it is a precedent that an art student has been sent to undertake the mission, which encourages the art students of the university to build their confidence in learning English.
