02 Nov 2010

SHNU: China staged a series of performances, parades and forums in Shanghai on October 31 to celebrate the end of the Shanghai World Expo.

Over 400 SHNU students took part in the different volunteer activities and performances. Among them, 222 students from over 8 colleges of SHNU sang the Expo volunteers’ song World with singer stars Tan Jing, Jackie Chan etc. Their excellent job drew an end to the 184-day Expo, which International Exhibitions Bureau (BIE) President Jean-Pierre Lafon called an "astounding success."

On that morning, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao went to the 12th floor of China Pavilion and watched the “Show Space Performance” by SHNU students. Premier Wen talked with student performers with warm smile and thanked them for their contribution to the Expo.

On the very evening, representatives of SHNU volunteers attended the departure ceremony held for the volunteers. The ceremony commended 10 volunteers with the most moving stories at the Expo site. Zhu Miao, a student from SHNU College of Music, was interviewed on the spot as a representative of them. 5 boys from SHNU College of Fine Arts sang their original song Expo Gives Us Glory to memorize this unforgettable experience.
