SHNU: September 16th marks the opening ceremony of 2010 SHNU New Term for postgraduate students as well as the orientation program on Xuhui campus. The ceremony was attended by SHNU Party Secretary Zhou Honggang, President Li Jin，Vice Party Secretary Huang Gang, Vice President Wang Lianhua, Vice Party Secretary Mao Dingwen, Vice President Cong Yuhao, and teachers’ and students’ representatives. SHNU Vice President Li Hexing hosted the ceremony.
Li delivered an opening speech to welcome the arrival of new postgraduate students, among whom 109 will work for doctor’s degrees, 1,360 for master’s degrees, and 159 for vocational master’s degrees. The president wished these new students would be good citizens, achieve better, and do more research work.
The 2nd prize winner of National Scientific Progress Award and Professor from SHNU Life and Environmental Sciences College spoke on behalf of the teachers to encourage the postgraduates to live up to their expectations in the academic world.
Over 1,600 students were involved in the orientation program which concerns university introductions, safety education, bibliographic resources application and information technology, etc.
