On November 1st, the 2025 International Academic Symposium on East Asian Tang Poetry and the Second International Postgraduate Forum was held at SHNU. The event was jointly organized by the East Asian Tang Poetry Research Society of the Chinese Tang Dynasty Literature Society, the Yumin Institute of South Korea, the School of Humanities at Shanghai Normal University (SHNU), and the Department of Chinese at Hiroshima University in Japan, with the assistance of the Shanghai Classical Literature Research Association and the Tang Poetry Research Center at SHNU. Over 160 participants from six countries—China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia—were invited to attend.
At 8:30 AM, the conference commenced with a welcome speech by Professor Chen Heng, Vice President of SHNU. The opening ceremony featured two sessions with eight expert keynote presentations. At 11:55 AM, the opening ceremony of the International Academic Symposium on Tang Poetry in East Asia and the Second International Graduate Student Forum concluded. From 2:30 PM to 5:50 PM, the conference continued with eight thematic breakout sessions, covering topics such as The System and Artistic Creation of Tang Poetry, Tang Poetry and Culture, The Dissemination and Reception of Tang Poetry Collections, The Transmission Forms and Reception Process of Tang Poetry, Han Poetry Creation and the Reception of Tang Poetry, The Formation, Transmission, and Reception of Du Fu's Poetry, as well as two graduate student forums: The Connotations and Reception of Tang Poetry and The Transmission and Influence of Tang Poetry in East Asia..
At 10:30 a.m., the closing ceremony of the conference was held, during which the list of award winners for the International Forum on Tang Poetry Studies in East Asia was announced. The forum lasted two and a half days, bringing together more experts, scholars, and fresh talents to participate in high-level academic exchanges. It fostered a positive academic atmosphere and contributed to the in-depth development of Tang poetry studies.
