SHNU: The 10th Calligraphy Exhibition that displayed works of art by artists from China, Japan and Korean was held in Tokyo the other day. Headed by Prof. Zhang Xin from the College of Fine Arts of SHNU, over 30 SHNU teachers and students of the college attended the opening ceremony and the international symposium on calligraphy education in East Asia.
The exhibition displayed 170 pieces of works of art, among which 63 were created by Chinese, 69 by Japanese, and 40 by Korean. With varied forms, these works mirrored different understanding of artists from different countries towards calligraphically. Three SHNU students had their academic paper included in the Collected Papers of the symposium.
The theme of the symposium was “Whereabouts of the Calligraphy Education in East Asia”. Prof. Zhang Xin made a report on the graded examination of writing Chinese characters in Shanghai on behalf of Chinese attendants.
The calligraphy exhibition next year will be undertaken by SHNU.
