SHNU: On November 30th, Shi Zhongci, a well-known Chinese computing mathematician and member of Chinese Academy of Science (CAS), was invited to deliver a speech ‘My Math Life’ at the lecture hall on Xuhui Campus.
As an avant-garde of Chinese computing math, Shi was selected as the CAS member in 1991, and is now the director of China Computing Math Association, winning various national awards in relevant fields.
Engrossed in math since childhood, Shi has followed Hua Luogen, one of the most reputed Chinese mathematicians, for the entry in the domain and fulfilled the landmark of his career path. At the age of 48, Shi went to Germany and furthered his research there for two years.
Shi convinced the audience of the importance of hard work in success by narrating about his own life stories and experiences. He also stressed the value of gifted talents and opportunities, and encouraged SHNU students to seize them when they arise.
The report was attended by over 160 teachers and students.
