SHNU: The other day, Xu Congzhong, student from the SHNU College of Foreign Languages, attended the 2011 APEC Meeting on behalf of the youth of China.
During the meeting, Xu attended theme lectures made by U.S. President Obama, Chinese President Hu Jintao and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Representing Chinese youths, Xu interviewed well-known politicians and entrepreneurs including CEO of Singapore Business and Industry Council, Commander of United States Pacific Fleet, Executive Vice President of JP Morgan Chase & Co, etc.
Xu Congzhong stood out from 50,000 competitors in the final competition of “APEC Future Sound” in China district in the first half of this year. Together with other 3 students from universities like Tsinghua and Peking University, she got the admission ticket for the 2011 Hawaii APEC Summit. Xu’s humanistic accomplishment, fluent English and quick response during the summit meeting was highly praised.
The 2011 APEC Future Sound Competition was commissioned by Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and jointly held by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, and the China Trade Newspaper. It began in May this year and was cooperated by “Practice 51” and “APEC Future Sound”. About 50,000 students from nearly 300 universities in China entered for it.
