The results of the 2011 Higher Education Press Cup China Undergraduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling (CUMCM) have been released and 3 SHNU students were awarded the first prize in the contest after winning the preliminary of Shanghai region. Sponsored by China’s Ministry of Education and China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the contest was held annually involving 3 students for every team to complete a paper on the basis of mathematical modeling and computer programming within 72 hours. Starting from 1992, it is one of the most influential contests of the world. In 2011 alone, over 58,000 students from 19,490 teams of 1,251 universities worldwide entered for the contest. |
